Wipro is an Indian multinational founded in 1945, active in information technology, cloud, cybersecurity, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, robotics, data analytics, and consulting in more than 165 countries.

Wipro

The problem

Insufficient Internet bandwidth: available bandwidth did not meet the requirements of a large technology company and limited tasks requiring high throughput.

Limited number of simultaneous users: the old access points could not support enough connected employees, causing disconnections.

Lack of security: the absence of a captive portal prevented effective separation of guest Wi-Fi from the main network.

Provided by Tata Communications

Tata Communications is a provider of digital ecosystems and managed services built on cloud, mobility, IoT, collaboration, security, and networks. The company carries approximately 30 % of the world’s Internet routes and connects many businesses to cloud providers.

The need

Productivity and teamwork: engineering teams needed stable access to documentation, software libraries, and collaboration tools.

Large files: code repositories, builds, and multimedia content required reliable, fast transfers.

Cloud services, testing, and debugging: developers used cloud platforms, remote connections to lab equipment, and emulators that required a low-latency network.

Security and updates: Wipro needed to protect its sensitive information and regularly update its frameworks, libraries, and tools.

Customer support and recovery: customer support, tickets, database backups, and recovery plans required stable connectivity.

Other vendors considered

Ubiquiti and Altai were evaluated. Wipro chose Grandstream for its free management, remote administration flexibility, and ability to cover networking, unified communications, security, and video conferencing through a single provider.

Network products deployed

Forty GWN access points were used: indoor Wi-Fi 6 access points GWN7660 and outdoor Wi-Fi 6 access points GWN7660LR.

Produits réseau déployés chez Wipro

Three-year warranty: coverage exceeds the one-year warranty common in the industry.

Cost-effectiveness and scalability: the access points offer enterprise-grade features at a controlled cost and can support a multinational’s expansion.

Features and compatibility: the latest Wi-Fi standards, security features, and integration with other hardware and software meet the needs of a development environment.

Free cloud management with GDMS: the network team can administer all access points from a single interface, monitor performance in real time, receive alerts, and view statistics and reports via a browser or mobile app.

Gestion Grandstream

Reputation, support, and documentation: the brand, its three-year warranty, help desk, and documentation strengthened the confidence of the administration team.

UC products deployed

Wipro also deployed a UCM6308 IP PBX, more than 100 GRP2602W, WP810, WP820, and GXV3380 units, 20 GSC3570 units for video intercom, 10 GSC3510 units for announcements, and two GVC3220 units for SIP video conferencing.

Produits UC déployés chez Wipro

UCM6308: it replaces the old analog IP PBX, improves voice quality, and supports up to 3,000 SIP extensions.

WP810 and WP820: the Wi-Fi phones give staff mobile, uninterrupted internal communication throughout the offices.

GRP2602W and GXV3380: executives have a two-line IP phone and a high-end Android video phone that combines telephony, collaboration, and tablet features.

An all-in-one solution: Wipro replaced its network and analog installation while adding video, SIP intercom, and video conferencing with a single provider.

The result

Wi-Fi coverage is now consistent throughout the offices. Employees can perform their tasks and transfer data without interruption. An internal survey confirmed reliable uploads and downloads, while GDMS enables the administration team to manage as many access points as needed from one place.

The Wipro team is also satisfied with the IP PBX, phones, video conferencing, and public address solutions: internal communications are uninterrupted, voice quality is better, and the equipment can be administered remotely.
